In case you didn't know, I don't like surprises. Not. At. All. I can not emphasize this enough. Really, really hate surprises.
Also – I don't like making decisions.
Why I chose to do a mystery knit-along is still baffling me (and my husband too).
What is a mystery knit-along you ask? Well, in short – it's a knitting a project in which I had no idea what it would look like at the end (it was a surprise) and in fact what it looked like in the end was a direct result of the decisions I made each time I knit it. See what I mean? Everything about this says to me "run away screaming as fast as you can".
But for some reason still unknown to me I chose to do it.
When I signed up all I knew was that I would be knitting some sort of shawl and that I needed fingering weight yarn for it – that was it!
Then I got my first clue. I could choose to knit clue A or clue B. No pictures of the finished clues, no descriptions of how they would look knit up or how they would look in the finished project. I chose clue B because I like charts and it had a chart. Seriously, that was all I had to go on. I knit it up. It looked pretty. I waited a week.
I got clue two. Another choice between an A and a B. I don't know!?! What do I do? Someone tell me! It went on like this for five weeks! Five weeks of me having to make decisions and being surprised by the outcome of my decision. Good grief. What a lesson it was for me.
In the end.... I'm very happy with my shawl. Very happy!
